Who is men's waxing for?

Men's waxing at SIMEHA Institut is for men who want smooth skin on the back, the chest, the legs, the underarms or the intimate area. It is done with wax, in a private treatment room, by appointment.

The reasons vary: sport, comfort under clothes, summer on the way, or simply a preference. There is no typical profile, and you have nothing to justify. You choose the area that bothers you, and you can start with just one to see how your skin reacts.

SIMEHA Institut is a beauty salon for women and for men. The treatments for women are presented on the waxing page.

Which areas can be waxed?

We wax six areas for men: the underarms, the back, the chest, half legs, full legs and the full intimate area. Each area has a fixed duration and a fixed price.

AreaDurationPrice
Underarms30 minCHF 25
Back1 hCHF 60
Chest1 hCHF 60
Half legs30 minCHF 60
Full legs1 hCHF 80
Full intimate wax1 hCHF 95

To wax several areas on the same day, book one time per area or ask on WhatsApp: we will tell you the best way to combine the treatments.

What happens during a men's wax at SIMEHA Institut?

A men's wax at the salon follows three steps: the skin is prepared, the wax is applied and then removed in small areas, and the skin is soothed. The session takes from 30 min to 1 h depending on the area.

Men's hair is generally thicker and denser. The beautician takes this into account: she works in short strips and chooses the wax according to the area. We use hot wax or warm wax, suited to the skin type. In general, hot wax is used for sensitive areas, such as the underarms and the intimate area, and warm wax for large areas, such as the back and legs.

If this is your first wax, say so when you arrive. You will know what to expect, area by area, before the treatment starts.

How long does the result last?

After a wax, the skin generally stays smooth for several weeks, because the hair is removed with its root. The exact time varies with the area and with each person.

Regrowth does not look like shaved hair. A razor cuts the hair cleanly, which makes it rough to the touch as soon as it grows back. A waxed hair grows back with a fine tip. To keep an even result, book again when the regrowth reaches a few millimetres.

Tips before and after the session

Before a wax, let the hair grow a few millimetres and do not shave. After the session, leave your skin in peace for a day or two.

Before your appointment:

  • stop using the razor and the close trimmer on the area, two to three weeks before in general;
  • take a shower and avoid rich creams on the day itself;
  • do a gentle scrub a few days before, especially on the back and chest.

After your appointment:

  • avoid intense exercise, the sauna and the sun for a day or two;
  • wear loose, clean clothing, preferably cotton;
  • moisturise the skin with a gentle product;
  • go back to the scrub after a few days, which generally helps to limit ingrown hairs.

Redness is common straight after the treatment, especially on the chest and back. In general, it fades within a few hours.

Frequently asked questions — men's waxing

How much does a back wax cost for men?

At SIMEHA Institut, a back wax costs CHF 60 for a session of 1 h. A chest wax is the same price, CHF 60.

What is the price of a leg wax for men?

A full-leg wax for men costs CHF 80 and takes 1 h. Half legs cost CHF 60 for 30 min.

Do you offer intimate waxing for men?

Yes. SIMEHA Institut offers the full intimate wax for men for CHF 95. The session takes 1 h and takes place in a private treatment room.

Does waxing hurt when you are a man?

The sensation depends on the area, the density of the hair and each person. In general, the first session is the most sensitive and the following ones are easier. The beautician works in small areas and chooses the wax to suit your skin.

How long does the hair need to be for waxing?

In general, a few millimetres are enough for the wax to grip the hair properly. If your hair is very long, the beautician can trim it before the treatment. Do not shave in the weeks before your appointment.
